A Personal Journey Toward a More Complete Approach to Wellness

👤 Part I: A Personal Awakening

My name is Matt Moody, and for over a decade I struggled with recurring kidney stones. From my late teens into my early thirties, I experienced dozens of episodes—each one painful, disruptive, and often followed by similar treatment approaches focused on symptom management.

Like many people navigating ongoing health challenges, I began asking a deeper question:

👉 Why was this happening in the first place?

That question led me to explore lifestyle factors such as hydration, nutrition, and mineral balance. I made changes to my daily habits—drinking more water, improving my diet, and incorporating key nutrients like magnesium under guidance and personal research.

Over time, I experienced meaningful improvements in my overall well-being and a reduction in recurrence. While every individual’s experience is different, this journey helped me realize something important:

💡 There may be value in exploring both conventional care and lifestyle-based approaches when addressing long-term health concerns.

That realization became the starting point for what would eventually become True Health.

💔 Part II: Loss, Questions, and Purpose

In 2021, my life changed in a much deeper way.

My nephew Colton was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer. Over the next two years, our family walked through one of the most difficult experiences imaginable. Despite receiving medical care and support, we ultimately lost him.

That experience left me with both grief and a renewed sense of purpose.

During that time, I began studying a wide range of perspectives in health and wellness—from conventional oncology to emerging research and integrative approaches. I explored the work of individuals such as:

  • Joe Tippens

  • Pete Sulack

  • Johanna Budwig

  • Patrick Soon-Shiong

  • Otto Warburg 

  • Dr. Thomas Seyfried

These perspectives often emphasized nutrition, metabolism, and lifestyle factors as complementary areas of focus alongside traditional care.

🙏 While no single approach offers guaranteed outcomes, this experience reinforced my belief that people deserve access to education, options, and hope.

🌍 Part III: Navigating Health in a Changing World

The years surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic brought new challenges and conversations around health.

Like many, I observed a wide range of health experiences among friends, family, and the broader community. These observations led me to continue researching topics such as immune health, recovery, and overall wellness.

I explored publicly discussed work from physicians and researchers including:

  • Peter McCullough

  • Jonathan/Ed Group

  • Bryan Ardis

Their perspectives—along with many others—highlighted the importance of supporting the body through foundational habits such as:

  • 🥗 Nutrition

  • ☀️ Sunlight and circadian rhythm

  • 🚶 Movement

  • 😴 Rest and recovery

  • 💧 Hydration

This led to the development of what I now call the Foundations of Health—a framework focused on supporting the body’s natural systems through lifestyle and environmental inputs.

❤️ Part IV: A Personal Family Experience

Several months ago, I had the opportunity to support my mom as she navigated longstanding health challenges, including respiratory limitations that required ongoing medical support.

Together, we focused on improving foundational lifestyle factors—nutrition, supplementation, daily habits, and overall wellness support—alongside her existing care.

Over time, she experienced meaningful improvements in her quality of life, including increased energy and independence.

💬 Every health journey is unique, and outcomes can vary significantly. But this experience reinforced something I’ve seen repeatedly:

When the body is supported consistently, positive changes are possible.
